About the Camp

From July 13th to 18th, we invite you to a wonderful countryside retreat in Dzūkija, where the 'TalkTies' Lithuanian-English language exchange camp will take place!

The goal of 'TalkTies' is to bring together both Lithuanians and international participants, encouraging language learning, fostering cross-cultural friendships, and creating unforgettable memories together.

Through games, group activities, creative workshops, and even sessions led by you, we’ll explore the intricacies of both languages and discover different cultures. Healthy American-style burgers? A hike through Lithuania’s most beautiful landscapes? Recreating English and Lithuanian songs? Yes, yes, and absolutely yes!

While we have plenty of exciting activities planned, we also want you to bring your unique energy to the camp. You are a big part of what makes it special! Every participant will have the chance to showcase their talents and teach others something new by leading an activity. This way, we’ll not only learn from each other but also develop our leadership skills.

Camp Programme

Here’s how the programme looks for your 'TalkTies' camp:

Sunday afternoon (July 13th) – Arrival and introductions.

From Monday to Thursday, the daily schedule is as follows:

8:00-8:30 – Wake-up
8:30-9:00 – Morning exercise
9:00-10:00 – Breakfast
10:00-12:00 – Educational activities
12:00-13:00 – Free time
13:00-14:00 – Lunch
14:00-16:00 – Educational activities
16:00-17:00 – Free time
17:00-18:00 – Dinner
18:00-20:00 – Evening programme
20:00-22:00 – Games / Free time / Disco

Friday (July 18th) – Reflection, goodbyes, and heading home. The connections continue in the city, or perhaps we’ll be waiting for our future meetings!

Meals: Full board (three meals a day) and snacks available throughout the day.

Camp cost: €450.

About the Organisers

The camp's slogan – 'Languages connect!' – was chosen intentionally. The founders of the camp, Svajūnė, a Lithuanian language and literature teacher, and Emilija, an English language teacher, firmly believe that languages not only help us communicate but also bring people together, create a sense of unity, and strengthen self-confidence.

I am Svajūnė Kazlauskaitė, a Lithuanian language and literature teacher who believes that learning languages can be both exciting and meaningful. I started teaching during my university years, volunteering in the "Kelrodė žvaigždė" project. Later, I shifted towards communications, earning a master's degree in public relations, but I never forgot my true calling.

I am constantly looking for ways to turn Lithuanian language learning into something more than just a dry set of rules. My goal is to make it an engaging and meaningful experience, helping students express their thoughts clearly, confidently, and creatively.

I am constantly learning – I travel, participate in various training programs in Lithuania and abroad, and stay curious about how language teaching works in other countries. I always say that, as a teacher, my main priority is that learning should never feel like a boring obligation, but rather an opportunity to grow, discover, and create.

The most important thing is for you to learn to trust yourself, not be afraid to make mistakes, and find your own path. This is why I joined the 'TalkTies' camp – to help you discover yourself, improve, and move forward with confidence.

I am Emilija, an English and French language teacher (although I will be leading activities to strengthen English in the camp). I spent several years studying in three different foreign countries, gaining invaluable experience meeting people from all over the world and broadening my worldview.

I believe that experiences abroad greatly enrich us, which is why I want to equip young people with the tools they need to navigate the world. With the right mindset and skills, they become more adaptable and resilient, making it easier to venture out, gain valuable experience, and broaden their knowledge. When they return to Lithuania, they can share what they have learned and, in this way, invest further in our society. Our country is our greatest treasure, and its future is now in our hands.

In this case, I think language skills and leadership abilities are fundamental, not only for gaining new experiences but also for growing as individuals. They are especially important for those preparing to dive into the competitive job market and begin the responsible life of a young adult in the 21st century.

Currently, I work with children in schools and with adults privately. Regardless of the age group, my goal is always to make the learning process engaging. When the content is interesting and the student enjoys, knowledge is absorbed easily and naturally. This is exactly what we aim for at the 'TalkTies' camp.
